| The planting of young trees can only have a beneficial effect on the Earth's atmosphere. Young trees are most efficient at absorbing CO2, releasing valuable Oxygen in exchange. In mature trees the process of photosynthesis levels off and almost no CO2 is removed. It is at this stage that harvesting takes place.
